Broncos Have Two Home Games this Week

The Bronco boys headed to Yerington NV this past weekend to play in the annual Yerington Tournament, this was their first tournament of the season.   The Broncos ended the weekend 2-1-1 winning against Wendover and Dayton, losing against Yerington and coming to a draw with South Tahoe.

Bishop went head to head against West Windover for the first game of the weekend and ended up winning. Coach Steve Omohundro started the Freshman and Sophomores and they pushed for a solid win 5-0. Acie Valdivia threw an impressive game starting as the pitcher and throwing 3 innings. Valdivia struck out 4 batters, had zero walks, one hit and no runs on him.

The Broncos fought hard against Yerington but fell 5-0. Coach Omohundro said that the game was lost due to many pop-outs, errors on defense, extended innings and the game being called by time limit after 3 innings.

In the third game of the weekend, the Broncos played South Tahoe and ended the dual in a 1-1 tie because of another time limit called. Junior Landon Kruse had a great game pitching, 4 and ⅔ innings with no hits. Kruse struck out 8 of the 18 batters he faced and walked 3 with only one run coming in. Sophomore Jake Frigerio pitched the last part of the 5th inning with 2 walks.

For the last game of the tournament, the boys played Dayton for a hard-earned win. Bishop won 8-6 with runs scored by Braeden Gillem, Clay Omohundro, Billy McKinzey, Ace Selters, Wesley Pettet, and Landon Kruse. Ace Selters had a great game on the mound pitching 4 innings and striking out 6 batters. Selters let off no walks but had 5 hits and 3 earned runs.
