Richard Rubalcaba, Writer

Varsity Mathletes made it to second place at Kern Valley High they landed with a total of 25 points with Desert Valley behind them and Tehachapi in first with 33 points. The broncos that went to Kern Valley were Rachel Fitt, Scott Henarty, Lauren Wesling, Clara Place, Ace Selters, Thomas Zentmyer, Nick Jacobs, Emily Batcheller, and Tylar Banta.

Our Broncos faced problems like:

Assume that a dart you throw will land on the 1ft by 1ft square dartboard shown and is equally likely to land at any point on the board. The diameter of the center circle is 4in and the width of each ring is 3in. What is the probability, to the nearest percent, of hitting the stripped ring?

and.

A car was traveling at 50mph. A truck passed the car going 60mph. How many feet ahead will the truck be in 5 minutes? (round to the nearest foot)

One Mathlete was given a 2nd place award and that was Clara Place. The rest of the Varsity team did a great job helping their teammates make it to 2nd place. Their Coach DeeDee Buchholz said, “We are  halfway through our season and we are looking strong.”

Great job Broncos we hope to see you do well in your next meet.
