Mr. Wickersheim

As you may already know,  the shop classes have a new teacher who goes by the name of Mr. Wickersheim or “Wick” for short. He is a Cal Poly San Louis Obispo graduate who majored in agriculture education. Heading into college, Wick’s mind was not set on teaching, in fact he did not find a love for teaching until his second year of college while he was in a computer lab and he enjoyed helping the other students. He has been teaching for about 20 years now and working in shops has helped him increase his woodworking and welding skills that he can now relay to his students. For him the most difficult aspect in his “hands on” teaching style is learning all the new technologies and software. His only weakness in teaching is keeping his cool and he is working hard to fix this flaw by “trying not to get mad” as often and it seems to be working well for him. Outside of school, his hobbies include: bowling, golf, hiking and he also enjoys riding his Harley. But in the end his favorite thing about teaching is when he hears that students are succeeding using the skills that they learned in his class.
