Bronco Boys Advance to Next Round on Senior Night

The Broncos came into Friday night’s Quarter Final game looking to advance to the next round of playoffs with a win over their league rivals, the Kern Valley Broncs. Ace Selters got the starting nod in the game, and did a great job for the Broncos, keeping them in the game the whole time he was on the mound. The first three innings of the game saw no score for either team until the Broncs brought home their first run of the game in the top of the fourth inning. The Broncos were held scoreless in the bottom half and found themselves down to the Broncs, a situation they hadn’t been in the previous two times the teams played each other this season.

The top of the fifth went by with no scoring, but then Senior, Austin “Homeboy” Thomas, lit the fuse that got the Broncos going with a one-out double off the left field wall. Thomas’ double got the scoring going for the Broncos, and then his clutch two-out bases clearing double capped off the huge eight-run inning for Bishop. The Broncs scored one more run in the top of the sixth, and the Broncos put up to more of the own in the bottom half. Sophomore Landon Kruse came in and shut the door on the Broncs to end the game by a final score of 10-2.

After the game, the boys celebrated Senior Night where they honored all of their players who will be leaving BUHS next year. The boys read their thank you letters and presented their family with bouquets of flowers to celebrate their season so far.

With this game behind us now, the Broncos will advance to the Semi-Final game which will be played here at Tatum Family Field. The boys will square off against the Lindsay Cardinals, the team that beat the Broncos last year in the CIF Championship game. If the boys advance to the finals, they will go up against the winner of the Strathmore V. Foothill game. With the element of revenge on the table, this Wednesday’s game will have some high emotions, and will certainly be a fun one to watch, so come out and support your Broncos!
